Bengals/Patriots......

Pats 9-1-2 ATS TY; Bengals 5-1-1 ATS L7 games.

Cincinnati Bengals (6-6) @ New England Patriots (11-1)
Sunday, December 12, 1:00 PM ET
New England – 11½, and the Total is 44

The New England Patriots look to keep their steamroller headed straight to the Super Bowl once again, riding a five game winning streak, as they play host to the high scoring Cincinnati Bengals.

Running back Corey Dillon, 3-time Pro Bowler, is all set to face his former Bengal teammates, and expects to the see the ball a lot, as Cincinnati has the NFL’s worst run D at 141.9 yards per game.

The Bengals are are riding a 3-game winning streak of their own, pulling them back into playoff contention. However, QB Carson Palmer will be hard pressed to match last week’s three touchdown, 383-yard performance as the the Patriots have only allowed 43 points in their last four games.

Last week, Cincinnati beat Baltimore 27-26 as a 6.5 point road underdog, while the Pats hammered the Browns in Cleveland 42-15 to easily cover the 11pt spread

Overall, the Bengals are 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 games and are 2-6-0 ATS in their last 8 away games. New England, meanwhile are 5-0-0 ATS in their last 5 games, and 4-1-0 ATS in their last 5 home games.

NY Jets (9-3) @ Pittsburgh Steelers (11-1) Sunday, December 12, 2004 4:05:00 PM EDT
Pittsburgh –6, and the Total is 35½
In what could be a possible playoff preview, the New York Jets travel to Pittsburgh to tackle the seemingly unflappable Steelers rookie QB Ben Roethlisberger, who are riding an improbable 10-game winning streak.

As indicated by a low Total of 35.5 by the oddsmakers, it figures to be a low scoring affair as you have two of the top 3 defences in points allowed – New York ranked number one at 14.6 points per game, with the Steelers ranked third at 15.3.

Last week the Steelers edged out the Jaguars 17-16, failing to cover the 3pt spread, while the Jets were big 27-9 victors over Texas at home, easily topping the 7-pt spread.

When it comes to the running game, the Steelers are doing it on both sides of the ball. P ittsburgh has the second best run offence in the league at 153.7 yards per game, and the best run defence in the league allowing 77.4 per game. This puts even further pressure on Jets QB Chad Pennington to get it done through the air.

Overall, the Jets are 10-3-0 ATS in their last 13 games, and 6-1-0 ATS in their last 7 away games. The Steelers are 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 games, and 4-1-0 ATS in their last 5 home games.

The Bengals, who are on runs of 4-1 on the scoreboard and 4-0-1 versus the number, have covered seven straight versus the Pats, the last coming in a 21-17 win over visiting New England in the 2001 season opener. Cincinnati, though, is only 17-31-1 against the number in its last 49 as a road dog.

New England improved to 11-1 SU and 9-2-1 ATS following last week’s 42-15 dominating win at Cleveland. The Patriots are on runs of 26-1 straight-up and 22-5-2 versus the number. They’ve covered 14 of their last 15 regular season games and are on a spread run of 12-0-2 as a home chalk.

Totals Tip: The Bengals have scored 85 total points in going over in two straight. The Patriots have sailed over in eight of their last 11 versus non-division opposition.

Cleveland is on spread slides of 2-8 on the highway and 4-9 as a road dog.

Buffalo won and covered for the third straight game with last Sunday’s 42-32 victory at Miami. The Bills, 6-6 SU and 8-4 ATS, have won and covered five of their last six overall.

Buffalo, which has allowed just four rushing touchdowns this year, is on a run of 10-2 against the number at home off a straight-up road win.
